About USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service

For more than 50 years, the USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has safeguarded our nation’s agricultural and natural resources. As the name suggests, our missions center around animal and plant health, but APHIS programs also address animal welfare, biotechnology, wildlife management, and global trade. From ensuring an abundant and affordable food supply, to preventing disease outbreaks and responding to national health emergencies, to assisting in conservation and recovery of endangered species, to protecting the trees in our forests and communities, our work touches peoples’ lives in countless ways.

APHIS offers impactful, rewarding careers in every area of animal and plant health—as well as business administration, IT, policy development, and public affairs—and we employ dedicated professionals of all educational backgrounds and experiences. Discover how you can make a difference and find your future with us!
