“The other interns, the location, the company culture, the mentorship”

“There were two main aspects of this internship that I really liked. First, I benefitted from the real-world experience and from doing hands-on work. My work and research played a role in the decisions my department would make, and I enjoyed having responsibility. For example, during MongoDB's largest annual conference MongoDB World, I was responsible for backend work on the mobile app. I sent out all the push notifications on the app to guide people to different workshops and sessions. Concurrently, I was managing the social media platforms and directly responding to consumers and attendees. These experiences exposed me to not just a fast-paced environment, but also to numerous online tools to facilitate my work. Secondly, I enjoyed that I was part of a formal internship program. MongoDB accepted 62 interns this summer, and during lunch breaks or after hours, I could hang out with my fellow interns and make new friends. This summer, the program managers organized many events: a Mets game, dinner, an arcade, a pizza tour, and even a broadway show. This internship was one of the best experiences I have ever had.”
