Advice

When I received my first opportunity with the company I was on the border of not accepting the offer due to the fact it would postpone my graduation one year. If someone is worried about pushing back graduation - don’t. I’ve worked with the company 3 times and received a job offer before I graduated! Plus, I figured out what I enjoyed doing BEFORE having a degree.

Agronomist Intern

What I liked

I had a meaningful project, which I was able to take ownership for and will hopefully benefit Anheuser-Busch and their growers in upcoming years.

What I wish was different

With COVID-19 I was unable to travel as much as I would have otherwise, but I am glad it was in person and I was able to follow the agronomists through the fields.

Advice

I would tell those who get the internship to take big initiation on your project at the beginning of the internship, because upper management will take notice and your days are also limited, so the due date creeps up fast.

I often faced technical issues during my internship that slowed my project down and were difficult to solve with IT.

Ask a lot of questions and fully immerse yourself in the experience.

Brewery Trainee Program Intern

What I liked

Interns have a lot of autonomy to explore aspects of the company that interest them. It was really enriching to be able to explore different departments and shadow different roles that did not pertain to my assignment.

What I wish was different

I wish the process would have been more organized; there was a lot of confusion that I think could have been avoided with more planning and communication from the corporate office.

Advice

Ask around to see who is willing to help you with your project, give you a brewing demonstration, etc. In my experiences there were people who were really excited to share their craft and others who were not so interested in working with interns so definitely seek out those who want you there in order to get the most out of the summer.

Brewery Operations Intern

What I liked

I liked how all of the employees were very welcoming and eager to help me learn as much as possible during my 10 weeks there. I also liked how the company had an upbeat and positive environment and engaged in team activities outside of the office. It was also awesome to see that my projects actually made a difference in daily operations. My project was also very technical and did NOT just consist of random office tasks. I applied my learning from my classes to my project, so it was nice to see the real-world application of my learning.

What I wish was different

I wish that the internship had started earlier in the summer. Ideally, I would have liked a week break between the end of spring semester and start of the internship. Since I really enjoyed my project and time here, I wish I would have had more time to continue with my work. I completed my projects, but I wish I would have had more time to see them in full operation and the extra time would have allowed for me to have more time to acclimate to everything and do more on the job training before starting my project.

Advice

On piece of advice that I would share about this experience is to fully immerse yourself in the brewery. Even if you are working in a certain department for the majority of the internship, spend a day in the other parts of the plant to learn more about the plant as a whole and how the departments communicate and operate together. There is always something to do, so always reach out and follow up on what to do next. This is how you will gain the most out of your experience. Also, always bring a positive attitude and lots of effort to work everyday because it will be remembered and appreciated once your internship is done.

What I liked

I enjoyed being able to network with people from all around the work. It also gave me the opportunity to learn about corporate life while still in college.

What I wish was different

The program could have had more structure and direction from the begining. It felt like everything was put together last minute for the interns in my field.

Advice

Communication is key! Don't be afraid or shy to ask questions and get involved with conversations that are intimidating. Everyone is willing to inform you and help you learn!

Fun job; great learning experience, team members are very helpful

What I wish was different

Some of the other BTPi interns were not so much set up for success by their bosses which led to them having poor expereiinces.

Advice

If you are a chemical engineer you will likely get an introduction to PE type role however you will start in the Packaging side of the brewery with no choice in ,location or shift for an entry level role

Video Production Intern

What I liked

The team at Avatar Studios and Anheuser-Busch was incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to make my internship an invaluable learning experience. I was able to gain competency with software and equipment I would not have been able to access through means of my own as well as learn about the beverage industry.

What I wish was different

I wish I had been brought onto a shoot with the team out of the studio. There was unfortunately not an opportunity to organize any sort of shoot on or off Anheuser-Busch's campus and I think it would've been a valuable experience to see one in action.

Advice

Be open to learning about all sorts of different careers and aspects of the industry, don't be narrow minded with what you want to practice and learn from this internship.

What I liked

The company culture was fantastic, and I thought my project and team were a great fit for my interests. I learned a lot and really enjoyed my experience.

What I wish was different

The location placement was not assigned until April even though I accepted the position in October, which was very stressful. Also, although I loved my project and my manager, many of my fellow interns did not.

Global Management Trainee Intern

What I liked

One of the most fun places to work. Did an amazing job allowing for me to meet other interns as well as full time employees

What I wish was different

During the internship you work on one or two major projects the entire time. Because of this at times it can begin to get mundane.

Advice

Reach out to other interns as well as fully time employees! Additionally don’t be afraid to ask questions, it is a very complex business and you aren’t expected to know everything.
