Supply Chain Planning Intern

June - August 2020 • Florham Park, NJ

What I liked

I was able to learn a lot from this experience. My team did a great job of teaching me about all the business units in my division, and I was able to work on both operational and project based tasks. I got some good experience using different tools like SAP and PowerBI that allowed me to work on cross-functional teams and collaborate with others.

What I wish was different

I wish the internship could have been in person to get the full BASF experience, but due to the pandemic it was all virtual and we were online. I also dealt with a number of technical issues that prevented from getting as much done as I wanted to, but nonetheless it was a great experience.

Advice

Everyone at the company wants to help you learn, so feel free to reach out to people across the organization and make connections. I met a lot of cool people and got some great advice for my future career in supply chain.

Engineering Intern

May - August 2019 • Wyandotte, MI

What I liked

The people I worked with genuinely cared about my professional development and wanted me to learn and get the most of my experience while I was there. The people are this company's greatest asset.

What I wish was different

Because it was an operations type environment, my mentors were often quite busy so I wasn't always able to get questions in about my assignments.

Advice

Learn the culture as quickly as possible. Schedule 10 min meetings with as many people as you can, and come prepared with questions. This is a small enough time commitment that most people can commit to, but long enough that it will help give you direction if you come in prepared.
