Medline Industries, LP

Product Management Intern

June - August 2023 • Northfield, IL

What I liked

Over the 10-week summer internship, I truly got to learn what a Product Manager's role entails. I was able to get so much exposure across the company, and I got the opportunity to make a real impact with the projects I worked on. Everyone at the company was so welcoming and interested in my growth and learning, which made it a very valuable experience. The Campus Recruitment Team also does a great job at organizing networking and social events throughout the summer!

What I wish was different

Interns got very different experiences based on the product division they got assigned. Some interns got lucky and got to get field exposure and travel, whereas other interns did not.

Advice

My biggest piece of advice would be to network as much as you can throughout the summer, especially on in-person days. Medline has an excellent work culture that encourages collaboration and communication. People are always willing to meet and set up coffee chats, and are very responsive to talking to interns. Be a sponge and try to learn as much as you can from other employees!

The hybrid model. We were in the office T and TH and remote M W F. I worked on projects that directly impacted my manager and her role. There were a lot of fun networking opportunities like going to Pinstripes, a Cubs Game, and on a Chicago river boat tour with the other interns.

Implementation Technician, Intern

August - October 2018 • Toledo, OH

What I liked

I liked that this internship taught me how to work with different people with numerous personalities. Working at Medline Industries, Inc was a tough task based on the type of work I was doing, but ultimately the challenge of working here helped me to work with different types of people with different management styles.

What I wish was different

For this type of work, I wished that my supervisor would have partnered us with people who have similar work ethics. I feel like by doing this, we would get a lot more done faster.

Advice

Although, this internship was not the type of internship I had in mind, it did help me to understand supply chain from a medical field basis.

Company culture is great! Everyone is super helpful and has lots to share. They make the process of getting an offer very clear and straightforward. There are lots of other interns that you have the opportunity to work with.

What I wish was different

Day to day tasks can be a little slow, there were some periods of time where I didn't have much to work on.

Business Systems Intern

June - August 2019 • Waukegan, IL

What I liked

Medline allows interns to really "show off". They appreciate new talent and allow them to take on a lot of responsibility. I was able to apply my knowledge in industry and was given the perfect amount of guidance to be successful. The program matches you up with a mentor and you have plenty of time to immerse yourself within the company. There are fantastic networking events for interns only and some really fun bonding work outings such as a cubs game.

What I wish was different

It was honestly perfect; could not have been a better experience.

Advice

Ask for help when you need it. I cannot stress that enough! There are so many smart people around you and they ARE your resources to be successful.

What I liked

I liked the immersive experience that was given to the interns. We got to see everything from the sales executives in hospitals, to the distribution centers, to the manufacturing sites. I felt that I learned a ton and everyone at the corporate headquarters was very friendly and looking to help the younger interns

What I wish was different

Advice

I would recommend that you make sure you understand which Illinois location you will be working at before accepting the offer. I have friends in the internship that didn't plan their living accommodations accordingly because they didn't know the exact location they would be at every day.
