PepsiCo

Supply Chain Intern

May - August 2018 • Tolleson, AZ

What I liked

Good projects tailored to your major/skills, excellent pay, excellent training/development opportunities.

What I wish was different

Despite doing solid engineering projects if you’re an engineer, the intent for this role is to develop talent for non-technical management roles, which was not clear at the time of offer. Additionally, the offer acceptance window was only 4 days even though the position was offered over 7 months ahead of targeted start date. Location was not settled prior to offer extension.

Advice

Ask about targeted career placement in your interview. Ask lots of questions on the job and take advantage of the online trainings in topics you’re interested in.

Sales Management Intern

June - August 2018 • Phoenix, AZ

What I liked

I loved the overall culture, atmosphere, and the entire internship program! This program was very well organized in terms of equipping me with tools necessary to succeed, no micromanagement, the opportunity to impact a Fourteen 100 company, and expand my network. I got to work on the largest growing Frito-Lay account over the past 5 years and got to see the transition from ideas to execution to impact in the market!

What I wish was different

Maybe the opportunity to work with another intern as I was the only one at my zone location.

Advice

MY one piece of advice: ALWAYS engage in conversations and ask questions! Learning everything you can about the business overall and what makes Frito-Lay/PepsiCo so successful is truly inspiring!

What I liked

I loved working with so many different people. I was challenged every single day and got results because of my hard work.

What I wish was different

The company doesn't care too much about their interns. Although they pay nice, they do not take a lot of time investing in talent. Seemed like I was thrown into the fire a lot with no assistance.

Advice

This job isn't for everyone. Expect to be working a crazy schedule at all times of the day, sometimes at 5 am and sometimes only 5 hours a day.

I enjoyed the hands on experience that each aspect of the company provided. Although my title was in sales, I witnessed merchandising, strategy, and consulting within PepsiCo.
