Located just 25 miles to the west and south of Washington, D.C., Prince William County offers a wide variety of living, recreation, shopping, dining, arts, and historic options. With the Blue Ridge Mountains, wineries, and horse county to our west, beaches to the south and east, and within a few hours of many major metropolitan areas, we’re close to it all! The Prince William region consists of two incorporated cities Manassas and Manassas Park, and four incorporated towns Haymarket, Dumfries, Occoquan and Quantico which is the only town in the U.S. that is almost completely surrounded by a military installation-The Quantico Marine Corps Base. Our community was named One of the Top 100 Communities for Young People (America’s Promise Alliance and ING) for three consecutive years and Gainesville was recently named the #1 City in Virginia for Young Families (WalletHub). Transportation options include Virginia Railway Express stations, Metro stations just outside our borders, and close proximity to three international airports.

Home to a diverse, growing community, Prince William County Schools is the largest employer in the county, which has a growing technology and science sector. Students and staff benefit from innovative instructional and professional learning programs, specialty programs (K-12) and career paths, resulting in continuous growth each year. As the second largest School Division in the Commonwealth of Virginia, our focus is on student success achieved in part through collaboration, quality professional learning, the use of instructional technology, and the development of literacy and wellness. This provides the dynamic environment for over 89,000 students in 61 elementary schools, two traditional elementary schools, 17 middle schools, 12 high schools, three special education, two alternative schools and two Governor’s Schools. All PWCS high schools are ranked in the top ten percent of public and private high schools nationwide (as determined by the Washington Post) and boast an on-time graduation rate of 91%, ranking 7th of the 50 largest school systems in the United States.

Over the next ten years, Prince William County Schools expects to reach enrollment of 105,000 students, resulting in the anticipated hiring of 8000 teachers, and construction of 18 new schools! Come grow with us!
