What I liked

One of the best training programs Great tools to learn financing and analysis

What I wish was different

Compliance environment is very hard to navigate, which leads to inefficiencies within all banks. Systems are not as advanced as most tech-companies or non-banking companies

Advice

Theres three options as I see it when it comes to a job for finance grads: banking, corporate, or consulting Think about the environment you most want to be in, don’t just take a “finance job”

Corporate Banking Intern

June - August 2018 • Charlotte, NC

What I liked

I really enjoyed being in the healthcare group which is their most well performing group within corporate banking. I loved the amount of autonomy they gave me over my work and the amount of responsibility they gave me even though I had no experience going in. I also like the amount of exposure we got to other groups.

What I wish was different

Technology Intern

June - August 2018 • Chandler, AZ

What I liked

This internship was amazing. The company is filled with very kind people. From communicating with other interns, we all had projects that contributed to production for Wells Fargo. Wells Fargo does an amazing job educating you on the technical responsibilities of your position in the team, along with helping you enhance soft skills.

What I wish was different

My position had required to have access to certain things. If we were able to handle that before starting, that would make integrating much faster.

Advice

Summer Financial Analyst

June - August 2018 • Minneapolis, MN

What I liked

I loved the friendly and collaborative atmosphere. I got to meet with and hear from many different people across lines of businesses and different groups to gain an understanding of the many opportunities that exist within the bank. The other interns were also very friendly and great people to work with. We had several different projects in our office that we got to work on, and it was great to collaborate with them or ask for their help and advice. We had a blast working and learning together the whole summer!

What I wish was different

We had a speaker series every week with interns from other groups in the bank, and we got to learn about many different groups. However, our group didn't have a chance to speak, so the other interns never learned exactly what it is that we do. That was a little disappointing, but made sense with how many groups there are within the bank.

Advice

It is a great time to ask questions about anything and everything. If you're curious about company culture, different groups, different lines of businesses, or how someone got into their role, you shouldn't be afraid to reach out to people and ask. Everyone I met loved talking to the interns and investing in making their time at the company a great experience!

Consumer Lending Intern

June - August 2018 • Charlotte, NC

What I liked

I was able to work on a diverse set of projects that allowed me to gain exposure to many different areas of business. People at the bank were extremely willing to discuss their careers with me and teach me skills I was interested in learning. They had a 2 day conference for the Consumer Lending Interns in Des Moines, Iowa which allowed me to meet and talk with several leaders at the bank. I was also able to meet interns that were located in other offices and learn about their positions. My boss was always eager to help me make connections and answer all of my questions. We were able to spend 2 days doing community service in the local area. There were weekly web seminars to hear from interns in other programs, get advice from recruiters, and even interact with the CEO. Overall, the experience was great.

What I wish was different

Advice

Spend as much time as possible making connections.
