Job Specifications

Major Function:

The City of Tallahassee’s Retirement Office is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Administrative Supervisor to join our team. In this leadership role, you’ll support the Retirement Director with senior administrative responsibilities, oversee core business processes and programs, and ensure the City’s Pension ordinances remain compliant with Federal and State mandates. You’ll prepare and deliver timely reports, supervise the Senior Retirement Benefit Analyst, and provide guidance to the Business Systems Manager on retirement processes and procedures. As the office manager in the Director’s absence, you’ll keep daily operations running smoothly while contributing to the efficiency and integrity of the City’s retirement programs.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead pension programs and projects, including system upgrades and policy changes.
  • Oversee the preparation and delivery of annual pension, actuarial, and Police & Fire reports.
  • Direct plan communications such as pension statements, Cost of Living Adjustments (COLA), and interest spread updates.
  • Guide staff development through planning, coaching, and evaluations.
  • Improve operations by streamlining procedures, automating workflows, and enhancing reporting tools.

Minimum Training & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in public or business administration or a related field and four years of professional staff or administrative experience; 

OR

  • Bachelor’s degree related to the field in which the vacancy exists and four years of professional, technical, staff, or administrative experience related to the field in which the vacancy exists: 

OR

  • High School Diploma or GED and eight years of professional, technical, staff, or administrative experience related to the field in which the vacancy exists.
  • Supervisory experience: At least one year of the required experience must have been in a supervisory capacity.

 

Preference may be given to candidates with experience in a Retirement System (FRS, etc.)

Salary Range

$27.9700 to $75.8988/hourly. Hiring rate generally will not exceed $53.2199/hour

Driver's License Requirements

  • Must possess a valid Class E State driver’s license at the time of appointment, or an equivalent license. NOTE: At the department director's discretion, the requirement for the noted license may be waived.
