Continuous Improvement Intern
The Summer Intern (Continuous Improvement Engineer) will learn from and participate with our Corporate Operational Excellence Team’s ongoing deployment of our continuous improvement program into a manufacturing site in either Westfield, MA; Chicago, IL; Cincinnati, OH; or Appleton, WI. This internship will shadow and work with the local leadership teams to learn and assist with the implementation of lean manufacturing concepts with the front-line leaders and operators on our manufacturing shop floor. The project objective is to reduce manufacturing waste, improve operational efficiencies, and develop a problem-solving culture across a site. This internship will provide the incumbent the opportunity to learn about and participate in this type of implementation in a hands-on setting.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead continuous improvement projects across the site
- Support identification and application of best practices, operating standards, and metrics
- Support deploying Managing for Daily Improvement as the lean management system across the site
- Support facilitating the identification, prioritization, preparation, execution, and follow up on CI initiatives across the site
- Conduct frequent operational data analysis and reviews to support identification and prioritization process for CI activities
- Execute an audit program to ensure proper deployment and sustainment of all CI activities
- Actively build and maintain effective working relationships with operations and business leaders at all levels
- Support the maintenance of the site's CI Plan
- All other duties as assigned
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point), Visio, and Outlook email and calendar capabilities.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Ability to organize and conduct data analysis on operational data.
- Ability to communicate effectively (verbal, written, and presentations) with executive leadership, staff, and internal and external clients.
- Proactive; exercises sound judgment and decision making; able to identify problems and needs and develop solutions and/or options.
- Self-confident, self-motivated polished professional who thrives in a challenging, fast-paced environment.
PREFERRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
- Interest in continuous improvement and pursuing a related degree in engineering.
- Two or three years of college completed with classes already taken in lean manufacturing, six sigma, and/or industrial systems or equivalent work experience in a continuous improvement role.
- Excellent English language fluency is a must, additional language capabilities are a strong plus.
