Junior Giants Intern

Position:             Junior Giants Intern

Reports To:         Junior Giants Manager, Giants Community Fund

Department:     Giants Community Fund (Communications)

Duration:           January - October 2018 

Position Summary:

Provide comprehensive support for daily administrative duties and large events relating to the Junior Giants program, a free, non-competitive baseball and Character Development program for over 24,000 underserved youth in 90 communities.  

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the administration of annual ordering/shipping/inventory of all baseball equipment and uniforms
  • Organize the collection of required paperwork from Junior Giants Commissioners
  • Support Junior Giants Managers and Coordinators in scheduling and participating in league meetings and tracking league goals
  • Assist in ballpark events including but not limited to various homeplate ceremonies, Commissioners Conference and Meeting, Ambassador Orientations, Junior Giants Festival, Appreciation and Recognition Nights, Junior Giants Glove Drive, Coaches Clinics and Junior Giants Day and Nights.
  • Assist with Giants Community Fund major events and fundraisers
  • Administer ticketing for Junior Giants activities at AT&T Park
  • Assist with tracking and communication to Harmon and Sue Burns Junior Giants Scholars
  • Review and monitor online tracking system of league-wide programs
  • Maintain Junior Giants relationship with nonprofit partners
  • Coordinate annual overnight summer camp program
  • Manage Junior Giants Social Media channels

 Knowledge and Skills:

  • Must be currently enrolled in a college or university
  • Community service and volunteer experience required
  • Sports industry and/or non-profit program experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills required
  • Minimal travel required. Must have an active Driver’s License.
  • Ability to work independently on tasks and deadlines
  • Ability to take direction from multiple Community Fund Staff Members
  • Ability to work effectively with volunteers and staff on events and projects
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
  • Ability to work 30+ hours/week, including some nights and weekends, especially during the baseball season.
