AI Agentic Developer Intern

SUMMARY/JOB PURPOSE (Basic purpose of the job):

The IT Intern – AI and Agentic Developer will support enterprise IT and engineering teams by designing, prototyping, and deploying agents and agentic software solutions that accelerate delivery and improve reliability. The intern will help build prototypes into spec-driven, testable, production-ready applications using modern AI-assisted development tools following security, compliance, and governance standards

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

This internship focuses on learning-by-building across the agentic SDLC (spec → build → test → deploy → observe):

  • Develop agents and agentic applications / workflows that automate multi-step IT and business tasks
  • Prototype quickly using vibe coding techniques, then evolve prototypes into maintainable solutions via clear specifications, structured prompts, and robust coding practices (tests, modular design, error handling).
  • Build and integrate tool-using agents (tool calling / function calling patterns), including connectors to internal systems and approved APIs with proper authentication and authorization.
  • Implement secure cloud deployments on AWS, including environment setup and application delivery using AWS services
  • CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployments including build validation gates and artifact versioning.
  • Write documentation and runbooks: architecture notes, setup instructions, operational SOPs, and user guidance to support adoption and maintainability.
  • Participate in reviews and quality gates: prompt/spec reviews, code reviews, threat modeling basics, and testing/validation prior to release.
  • Apply secure-by-design and responsible AI principles, including data handling, privacy, and safe prompting practices aligned to organizational policy

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

None

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Education:

  • Currently enrolled (rising junior/senior or graduate student) in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Data Science, AI/ML, or a related discipline.

Experience:

  • Coursework or project work in software development, cloud fundamentals, or AI/automation.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to learn new tools quickly and apply them with guidance.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Kiro, and GitHub Copilot to accelerate development while maintaining quality.
  • Familiary with Agent development frameworks like AWS Bedrock Agentcore, Langchain, Databricks Mosaic AI.
  • Familiarity with agentic development concepts: tool use, planning/execution loops, guardrails, prompt/version management, and evaluation strategies.
  • Basic understanding of REST APIs, authentication methods (OAuth/JWT), and secure secret handling.
  • Familiarity with automated testing (unit/integration), linting, and CI pipelines
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and comfort collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and respect for security, privacy, and compliance requirements.

DELIVERABLES / LEARNING OUTCOMES (Recommended Add-On)

By the end of the internship, the intern is expected to deliver:

  • 1–2 deployable agentic prototypes (sandbox → controlled environment) with tests and documentation
  • A lightweight spec + prompt/design package for each solution (requirements, constraints, acceptance criteria)
