Digital Marketing Intern

Internship

An internship at TechSoup is not just a learning experience; it is an opportunity to make a challenging and meaningful contribution. You will get to work on real world inspiring projects that drive goals and objectives.

The Digital Marketing Intern will assist in the development, planning, and implementation of an integrated marketing campaign; work in conjunction with the digital marketing team to develop messaging and produce content for multiple channels, including email, techsoup.org, and social media; utilize HubSpot, a widely used enterprise-grade integrated marketing platform; and assist with research and data management as needed.

This is a paid position.

Duties and Responsibilities

Expected project outcomes:

  • Intern will have conceptualized, developed, and produced marketing emails, with guidance from the email marketing team
  • Intern will have propose a schema for organizing data within HubSpot
  • Intern will have developed marketing A/B tests, and will have presented the results of said tests.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Data entry, management, and research
  • Email creation and production in conjunction with the Digital Marketing team
  • Take part in brainstorming sessions and pitch ideas
  • Some light graphics work as needed (and as their skill allows)
  • Assist in running social media accounts (setting up social ads, etc..,.)

Goals

  • To get real-world experience in a nonprofit marketing department. We want our intern to be fully immersed in the creative process behind marketing!
  • Learn what goes into planning and producing a marketing campaign from start to finish.
  • Gain valuable hands-on experience with HubSpot’s digital marketing platform
  • To gain an understanding of the role analytics, data, and metrics play in modern marketing.
  • To have some fun along the way!

Qualifications

Knowledge:

  • Social networking and nonprofit knowledge preferred.
  • Has a demonstrated interest in digital marketing or communication through coursework, work experience, or extracurricular activities.

Skills:

  • Is self-motivated and inquisitive.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office. Feels comfortable with Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with email marketing and Google Analytics a plus.
  • Feels comfortable working with data.
  • Has a working knowledge of web and graphic design principles.
  • Can work well in a team environment. Is comfortable collaborating with others.

Abilities:

  • Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing. Has a concise and succinct writing style.
  • Interacts in a professional manner with a wide variety of people.
  • Can solve problems on the fly and suggest solutions to the team.
  • Is willing to experiment with new ideas.
  • Can plan, organize, and prioritize tasks.

Education

Any combination of education and experience providing the skill and knowledge for successful participation and learning in the internship would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:

  • Must be actively and presently enrolled an accredited college or university at an undergraduate or graduate level.
