HR Compensation Intern Summer 2018

To ensure we are competitive we need clear job definitions. This intern position will help our team review the Program Manager and Project Manager positions, assess what incumbents do around the globe in these roles, and make recommendations on moving those incumbents to more appropriate job families that better align with the work they perform.

Duties and Tasks

  • Partner with assigned Compensation partner to develop a project plan for assessing and classifying employees around the world in the Program Manager and Project Manager titles.
  • Create a comprehensive job evaluation form to help drive consistent interview questions and documentation of job duties.
  • Schedule and conduct individual or group interview sessions with incumbents and managers in the Program/Project Manager roles, documenting key job responsibilities on defined job analysis form.
  • Compile and translate collected job information into existing NetApp job families, or recommend new job families as needed, working with a Compensation Analyst as to ensure accuracy of classification.
  • Maintain project plans, manage communications, proactively identify and address project risks and opportunities as well as identify ways to achieve project goals.
  • Develop summary recommendations and deliver findings in presentation to Compensation team.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • High level of skill and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to take initiative and lead tasks or projects through to completion.
  • Consulting, collaboration and assessment skills.
  • Ability to manage against established deadlines.
  • Strong organizational, time management, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate with all levels of employees.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.

Preferred Experience and Education:

  • Basic compensation knowledge and human resources knowledge thought either prior internship or class work
  • Experience or training in conducting job evaluations.
  • Working toward BA/BS degree in business or business or human resources management with course work in compensation.
  • Experience in interviewing, asking probing questions, and managing projects through completion.
