Science Communication Internship

Express your creative-side this summer!  The Innovative Genomics Institute (IGI) wants YOU to join our science communication team. Through this internship, you will develop an in-depth understanding of the IGI research areas: genome editing, microbiology, agriculture. You will be provided with resources and a supportive environment to utilize your skills to develop and complete an independent science communication project.

This internship is specially designed to give you freedom to express your creativity. We want you to come up with a unique way to communicate scientific topics to the public. In order to apply for this internship you must submit a project pitch through our website. You do not need to know the science! We can teach you the scientific concepts, but you need to bring the creativity and passion. Think of a creative way to communicate science using your talents, write a pitch, and send in your application. Easy as 1,2, 3.

Internship details:

  • The student is expected to work either 20 hours a week (part-time) or 40 hours a week (full-time).
  • A part-time student will receive $1500 for the summer and a full-time student will receive $3000 for the summer.
  • Priority will be given to local applicants because housing is not covered, but all applications will be considered.
  • The internship will last 8–10 weeks. Any known vacation, travel days, conflicts must be stated at the bottom of the project pitch.
