Become a Superhero-In-Training
The Tools Engineering team is responsible for the development of new tools or enhancing existing tools that will be used by our Service Reliability Engineers to drive efficiencies into the operational aspects of Proofpoint’s products by automating manual tasks. These tools could revolve around monitoring the health of our products, management of essential resources in our data centers, etc. We do all this by working as a sharp, supportive, and involved team who make it fun to come to work every day.
As a DevOps Engineer Intern on our Tools engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and automating tools and applications by making technology choices that bolster Proofpoint’s reputation as an Enterprise-ready platform. You’ll be considered a member of our technical team within a growing company, and you will be responsible for bringing intellectual energy, a thirst for learning and a passion for your craft to work with you every day!
Your Current Super-Skills
- Strong knowledge of Python/Perl/Ruby/JavaScript scripting languages
- Familiarity with working in Linux/Unix environments
- Exposure to GIT
- Some Exposure to http protocol, SSL, LDAP and rest API’s
- DB exposure SQL commands
- Open source contribution
- Participation in Hackathons/open source boot camps
- Ability and passion to learn, research, test new technologies
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
Your Superhero Profile
You have the ability and interest in working full time (40 hours/week) in our Sunnyvale, CA office. You are currently pursuing an undergraduate degree (2018 new college grads also eligible), and are successfully maintaining an above average GPA, preferably 3.0 or higher. This summer internship is scheduled to run for 11 weeks from June – August 2018.
