Media Relations and Political Consulting Intern

With a diverse set of clients – financial institutions, non-profit advocacy groups, labor unions and Democratic candidates for office—Telegraph (www.telegraphpr.com) provides advice on messaging and political strategy, creates advertising, and helps groups navigate the government process.

 

Working with our team, the Summer Intern will function as a Jane or Jack-of-all-trades. This individual will apply his/her superb research, writing, organization, and creative skills to meet the varied needs of our clients.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

§  Monitor print and television media for relevant political or client-related news

§  Organize and staff community meetings and public hearings as needed

§  Conduct research related to organizations and their activities

§  Maintain our media contact database

§  Write talking points for television and political clients

§  Accompany the firm’s staff to client meetings as appropriate

 

Perform other duties as needed.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:


          Qualified candidates will be enrolled in a 4-year college, or will be a recent graduate. A focus on or interest in political science, public policy, or communications, as well as a demonstrated commitment to being part of the political process, are highly desirable traits. To be considered for this position, candidates must be available for a minimum of 20 hours a week for a set schedule. The position will begin around June 1, 2018 and will end around September 1, 2018.

 

COMPENSATION:

This position will pay $15 per hour on a bi-monthly basis. It does not include medical or retirement benefits. College credit may be available but it is up to you to handle the appropriate paperwork.
