The U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO), is the property manager for overseas diplomatic facilities and one of the world’s largest and most experienced real estate developers in the world. 
 
Its mission is to provide safe, secure, functional, and resilient facilities that represent the U.S. government to the host nation and support the Department’s achievement of U.S. foreign policy objectives abroad. 
 
Facility Managers (FM) are the facilities and operations professional experts at U.S. diplomatic missions around the world. They direct operations and lead and supervise one of the largest and most diverse workforces at posts overseas while providing a wide range of facility-related services at commercial and residential buildings. 
 
The following is required: 
 
  • Bachelor's degree with 3 yrs. OR a Master's degree with 2 yrs. specialized experience, OR Bachelor's in Facility Management or Facility Engineering with no experience. 
  • Worldwide availability 
  • U.S. citizenship 
  • Between 21-59 yrs. old to be appointed

Applicants must be U.S. citizens, at least 20 years old to apply, and at least 21 years old to be appointed. By law, all career candidates must be appointed to the Foreign Service prior to the month in which they reach age 60, except for preference-eligible veterans.
