Content Developer / Instructional Designer

Instructional Designers work with business-process clients, subject-matter experts, and developers to deliver training to various audiences. They design project outlines, write scripting, and develop content for technical, customer service, and leadership courses, while monitoring multiple training projects from the design stage through development and implementation.
 
Primary responsibilities will fall into the following categories: 

  • Design online, instructor-led, and blended training materials for individual courses and comprehensive curricula; includes writing agendas, objectives, scripting, activities, and assessments
  • Create engaging learning activities that meet instructional objectives and support participant learning by incorporating adult learning theories and facilitating real-world practice
  • Develop courses using InDesign, Articulate Presenter, and other content-development applications
  • Write articles and presentations to document work flows, processes, and business changes
  • Establish working project plans and calendars for designing technical, customer service, and leadership training and other projects as needed
  • Update existing material when needed and adapt instructional materials for various formats

 A successful Instructional Designer will have the following: 

  • A Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, preferably in English, Communications, Journalism, Education, or similar. Alternatively, two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and training
  • Strong technical writing skills with experience writing content for several communications and training methods, mediums, and for varied audiences. Must be able to create coherent, concise documents from large volumes of technical information, and have strong editorial skills
  • Experience editing for grammar, spelling, punctuation and other mechanics of style
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills with strong attention to detail as well as excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to form strong relationships with all levels of corporate and field organizations
  • Flexible and able to manage responsibilities in a fast-paced, growth-oriented, and time-critical environment
  • Excellent Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel skills; experience with desktop publishing software such as Adobe InDesign preferred
