International Research Internship in Okinawa, Japan
The OIST Graduate School offers research opportunities in Japan for any undergraduate and graduate students in STEM major.
These 2-6 months placement in Okinawa (Japan) as a Research Intern provides talented students the opportunity to gain experience in a particular laboratory or to learn a specific technique. They work under the direction of a Professor at OIST and contribute to the research activities of their projects.
Places for Research Interns are awarded twice a year on a competitive basis, with application typically six months in advance. Though OIST does not have any academic department, some of the core fields include: 1) Neuroscience, 2) Physics, 3) Chemistry, 4) Marine Sciences, 5) Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology, 6) Mathematical and Computational Sciences, and 7) Environmental and Ecological Sciences.
To apply for the program, one must submit the following documents:
- Academic Transcript
- One Recommendation Letter
- CV
- Statement
Once selected to the internship program, OIST will provide:
- Round-trip airfare (domestic or international)
- Living allowance (2,400 JPY per day)
- Housing whilst at OIST
- Visa support for those who need visa to enter Japan
- Insurance
