Job Summary/Job Responsibilities:
- Manages and enhances SERC’s blog, The Leaflet; Serves as The Leaflet’s Managing Editor.
- Recruits and supervises the The Leaflet’s editors and volunteers; Recruits contributing writers for the The Leaflet
- Collaborates with other SERC staff on developing stories to help promote SERC brand, programs, and events
- Monitors The Leaflet content and comments
- Contributes to SERC all-team assignments and activities, including weekly SERC staff meetings and semesterly SERC Retreats
Job Requirements:
- Experience with writing, editing, blogging, and/or publications
- Knowledge and experience with using WordPress
- Excellent skills in detail-oriented organization, and verbal, written, and interpersonal communication
- Leadership and/or facilitation experience
- Demonstrate strong research and analytical skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, taking initiative, proposing innovative ideas, and collaborating well with other people and organizations
- Experience with or interest in sustainability and environmental issues, programs, projects
- Capacity to work 5-10 hours/week during the fall and spring semesters, and to attend weekly SERC staff meetings and semesterly SERC Retreats
- Status as a currently enrolled student at UC Berkeley
Number of Openings: 1
Hours/Week: 5-10/hours/week, Fall and Spring Semesters
Pay rate: $15.00/hour
Reports to: Director, Student Environmental Resource Center
Desired Start Date: April 23 (training & onboarding begins); official start date Fall 2019 semester (summer optional)
