Communications Student Assistant

The communications assistant will support Berkeley Law’s communications team on a variety of projects relating to print, web, and social media storytelling about the law school community. The most important and first project involves compiling a list of contacts for a mail and email campaign. Depending on skills and interests, the communications assistant may also be assigned creative projects such as shooting video b-roll or interviews with students; helping plan and execute content for the law school’s social media channels; using photoshop and/or indesign to create graphics; analyzing social media data and helping plan content strategy; taking photos at events; helping write and design monthly alumni newsletter; compiling media clips; transcribing, etc.

Please apply only if you can commit to at least 12 hours a week, between 9 am and 5 pm, Monday to Friday with a regular weekly schedule. This position starts ASAP. The ideal candidate could commit to one year. 

Required Qualifications: Experience in a professional environment. Clear and confident written and oral communications skills. Excellent research skills, including ability to collect information via web and phone. Ability to self-manage time and deadlines. Familiarity with Microsoft and some Adobe software.

Preferred Qualifications: Journalism, writing, and/or proofreading experience. Video shooting/editing. Strong interest in social media. Creative thinker.
