HJF is seeking a Research Scientist - Mathematical Modeling Scientist to support the U.S. Army Medical Research and Development Command's Biotechnology High Performance Computing Software Applications Institute (BHSAI) [www.BHSAI.org] in Frederick, Maryland. HJF provides scientific, technical, and programmatic support services to the BHSAI. BHSAI performs mathematical modeling research to help develop biomedical solutions for our Soldiers.

Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and apply computational solutions to biomedical problems, involving signal processing of time-series data; image analysis; data mining; data-driven-, phenomenological­ or first-principles-based modeling; and artificial intelligence. Experience in physiological modeling is a plus.
  2. Knowledge of MATLAB and associated toolboxes is required.
  3. Work simultaneously on multiple projects, involving a diverse and interdisciplinary team of scientists across multiple laboratories.
  4. Prepare research proposals, progress reports, and manuscripts for submission to scientific journals.
  5. Present research methods and findings at appropriate scientific conferences.
  6. Complete other projects as needed.

Required Knowledge, Skills. and Abilities: Must have a Ph.D. in a related discipline, proven extensive computational experience, and a strong publication record.

Minimum Education/Training Requirements: Must have a Ph.D. in a related discipline and proven computational experience. 

Minimum Experience:  2 to 4 years’ of relevant experience.

Work Environment: The candidate is expected to simultaneously work on multiple projects, involving a diverse and interdisciplinary team of scientists across multiple laboratories.

Background: Must have lived in the US 3 out of the past 5 years; eligible to pass a NACI background.
