Manager, Special Services & Royalty Compliance

  • Assist Director with managing day to day workflow, report deadlines and deliverables of department staff.
  • Execute decisions and assign work to staff in the absence of Director, deputizing for the Director.
  • Knowledgeable with the details of entire royalty book of business including, each client respective work area, their primary earning sources, applicable royalty accounts and associated contracts.
  • Review Royalty Statement Tracking Reports prepared by staff to determine progress by staff and assist recovery efforts.
  • Provide 2nd review of Royalty Compliance and Special Services reports prepared by staff and verifying accuracy of report contents.
  • 2nd review of client commission reports and push up to Director of Business Management for final review.
  • Help and aid Director in developing markets and programs for key strategic areas of growth.
  • Prepare royalty contract summaries of royalty calculation terms to be used by the transactions staff for review of royalty statements and push up to Director for sign off.
  • Project manage full audit, desk audit and specials services deliverables of staff.
  • Ensure staff deadlines are met.
  • Responsible to work independent and team-oriented. Will demonstrate strong interpersonal relationships with business partners, to include but not limited to effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exercise analytical skills; ability to make decision based on information provided and understand the ramifications of each decision for the team and company.
Tri Star Sports & Entertainment Group is seeking an accomplished & detail-oriented Manager to join our Special Services & Royalty Compliance team located in Los Angeles.
This individual will need the following skills to succeed with Tri Star Sports & Entertainment Group:
  • Lead financial reporting & close processes in adherence to business management related policies and procedures.
  • Manage and support daily accounting duties – AR, AP, Account Reconciliations, Payroll, 1099 reporting, Cash Flow, & Banking, etc.
  • Deliver accurate and timely quarterly financial statement with ongoing review of processes, policies, and controls.
  • Review Budgeting and Forecasting— Financial & Cash Flow Analysis for clients.
  • Assess estate planning needs and gather resources to finalize an estate plan for review by the Business Manager, Director, or CEO.
  • Manage property purchases / sales, vehicle purchases /sales, and estate planning.
  • Support tax work paper prep in liaison with Tax Manager to provide necessary data for the completion of all tax processes.
  • Train and develop accounting team.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • 8+ years of royalty audit, royalty accounting (publishing/artist) or royalty income tracking.
  • BS or BA with an emphasis on Music Business or Recording Industry Management in Accounting, Finance, or Economics or BBA (Music Business emphasis) with a strong academic record.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and highly functional with Excel
  • Experience with Counterpoint Music Maestro, Record Maestro and/or other entertainment royalty software.
  • 2 - 4 years of managerial experience.
  • Comfortable in a fast paced, startup environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact across the organization.
  • Extremely detail-oriented to create accurate and timely reports.
  • Strong work ethic with a positive attitude & a fit with the company’s culture & values.
