Summer 2020 Music Products Internship

This posting is for the Summer 2020 internship positions. Start date will be Tuesday May 26th, 2020 and the position end date would be August 21st, 2020. The internship is located in Frederick Maryland.

The internship program at Music & Arts is a great way for music business students to gain real-world experience working at one of the leaders in the music products industry. This experience is hands on actively assisting the marketing, merchandising or sales departments with their internal & external communication, promotional planning, competitive analysis, updating of internal systems and other business functions. Each internship position (3 Available) will last approximately three to four months timed with school semesters, but will not exceed six months. 
Internships are available in the following departments. 

Merchandising - An essential aspect of the industry is gathering detailed product and market knowledge while assisting in store merchandising and assortment planning and working alongside purchasing teams. Retail store sales is a significant business and merchandising at different stores creates an inspirational atmosphere with instrument and accessory displays and drawing customer focus to various products and services. Whether in-store, online, at tradeshow or industry events or behind the scenes, merchandising is key to our growth and success. At 200+ retail stores, among 150+ educational representatives and in 270+ affiliate locations, merchandising expertise leads to increased revenues, awareness, customer and partner satisfaction.

Ecommerce / Digital Marketing - As the sole focus of Music & Arts' sister company Woodwind & Brasswind (www.WWBW.com), e-commerce is everything to this growing and thriving brand and interns have an opportunity to make a real impact. WWBW offers more than 150,000 musical products, including top brands in band and orchestra instruments, accessories and studio gear – all online. Hard-to-find products are available through the Woodwind & Brasswind Boutique Store. Working on our e-commerce platforms, interns gain expertise in many vital digital tactics and tools such as Paid Search (PPC), Organic Search (SEO) and various business intelligence strategies. Multichannel sales strategies encompass email marketing, social media, online ads and more. The WWBW brand serves all 50 U.S. states and more than 90 countries worldwide.

Sales Operations - Sales is at the heart and soul of the entire Music & Arts organization, whether in our 190+ retail stores, at hundreds of affiliates, among field staff, at MusicArts.com, and for music lessons with our hundreds of thousands of educator, parent and student customers. Working in Sales, you will explore what it takes to support a growing and dynamic national organization offering products, services and support in a thriving industry. The department is essential in training and refining sales operations, serving our many retail stores and more than 5,000 schools. They support rentals of more than 200,000 instruments yearly and work with over 140 educational representatives visiting schools, too. Music is the soul of creativity and inspiration, and working in sales at Music & Arts reflects that mission.


Marketing - Working in this dynamic department means joining a highly respected national brand team developing national campaigns, social media, public relations, promotions, events and more. You will gain real world, hands-on experience in internal and external communications, growing a brand and digital marketing strategies and tactics. As Music & Arts is a multichannel sales organization, you can explore customer, retail store, affiliate and music education marketing, as well as working with and support for many philanthropic and local community organizations. The department manages all company branding, print and online ads, MusicArts.com, special events, sales support and charitable contributions.
