Policy Internship with the CA Climate & Agriculture Network

The California Climate and Agriculture Network (CalCAN) is a statewide coalition that advances policy change to realize the powerful climate change solutions offered by sustainable and organic agriculture.

CalCAN Policy Internship – The policy intern will have the opportunity to assist in policy advocacy coordination, working with CalCAN’s Policy Director and Associate Policy Director. Activities will include development of policy program materials; creation and implementation of research and writing projects; assisting with legislative tracking; and possible event coordination. The intern will also have the opportunity to write blogs for our website and newsletter. 

Expectations – CalCAN will expect an average 15-hour per week time commitment from the policy intern. The intern will be supervised by CalCAN’s Policy Director who has offices in Sacramento and Alameda. The intern will be expected to participate in weekly in-person meetings in Sacramento or the East Bay with opportunities for joining additional meetings/events in Sacramento. The intern is expected to provide their own computer access, work space and housing. Any internship related travel to events or meetings other than the weekly meetings will be compensated.

Duration/Schedule – The internship is four months, beginning in January and ending in April. Start and end dates are negotiable, and the weekly schedule of internship hours worked is flexible.

Potential Candidates – We will consider any candidate with a demonstrated interest in sustainable agriculture/climate change policy advocacy and strong written and verbal communication skills.

Finances – CalCAN will pay $900/month in stipend.
