Food and Beverage Operations Intern - The Hamptons

We are seeking full or part-time summer interns to join us at our restaurant Calissa and events venue The Muses in Southampton. Our restaurants have been on the Eater Top 38 NYC list and we have received praise from the New York Times, NY Mag, Food and Wine, Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, the Wall Street Journal, and Vogue.

The internship will consist of the following projects and duties:

- Utilize and develop inventory and purchasing systems for restaurant operating supplies
- Analyze weekly P&L and sales
- Manage menu and restaurant information across various online platforms
- Update Foods and Farms training document with information on culinary techniques, local farms and fishermen that we currently use
- Sets intern and staff meetings
- Assists with managing online reviews 
- Tracks transfer logs between restaurants
- Assists in daily restaurant operational tasks as required such as scheduling, staffing, reservations management, staff training, floor management, and expediting 
- Assists in new business development tasks and consulting projects

Interns will receive a working knowledge of how to manage a successful restaurant brand and the everyday functions of a restaurateur.  Our ideal candidate is organized, creative, self-motivated, and has a passion for food and wine. Previous experience is not required but enthusiasm for the industry is necessary. Interns typically work between 25-60 hours a week, depending on location and the candidates experience. Culinary, hours worked on the floor or the restaurant and clerical work not related to an education project for college credit is paid at New York State Minimum Wage or Tipped Minimum Wage in the county of their employment and/or as otherwise reflected in their offer letter. 

The internship portion of this program is for-credit and unpaid. Paid work hours in the restaurants are available to students who would like them, position and hours available commiserate on students past experience, their desire to learn and the needs of the business. Paid hours may be available at Amali, Bar Marseille, Collective Retreats, or weekends at Calissa in the Hamptons, in which case housing would be provided. Paid hours may be also be available at pending projects in the greater New York and Long Island areas.
