Logistics Design & Project Engineer

Starting End of April 2020

Lufthansa Technik Component Services (LTCS), a subsidiary of Lufthansa Technik AG (LHT) - the world's leading provider of aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul services – is looking for a self-motivated and energetic full-time Logistics Design & Project Engineer.

Your goals will be to design, organize, manage, and deliver projects and logistic concepts for customers and internal needs. As a Logistics Design & Project Engineer, you will also coordinate all aspects of logistics processes including communication with internal and external stakeholders and insure the right logistics solution is delivered to the customer.
 
You will have one of the key problem solving roles within the Lufthansa Technik organization. The position is based in Miami or New York to provide an interface between Lufthansa Technik’s sales and customer service teams and Logistics Groups. Regular travel between these locations and Germany is required. Managing complexity, working independently, understanding supply chain setups, and interpersonal relationships are crucial to being successful within the position. A typical day can start in the morning with an international conference call to develop and implement a new global performance tracking tool. This can be followed by a working session with a customer service team to resolve a warehouse operational delay for a regional customer. The afternoon can include a meeting with the sales organization to develop a cost effective transportation solution for a new bid Lufthansa Technik is working on. After catching up on emails, the day could end with planning your next trip to New York.
 
Your responsibilities and duties:
  • Development of transportation and distribution warehouse concepts for the America’s regional supply network
  • Work with a global team of logistics solutions managers to ensure a global supply of material for aviation customers in the America’s region.
  • Represent the logistics organization during the acquisition of aviation customers in the America’s region
  • Build logistics pricing concepts for aviation customers in the America’s region in alignment with the warehousing and transportation groups
  • Develop and monitor execution of logistic services to confirm fulfilment to targets/service agreement
  • Provide root cause analysis, solutions and solution implementation in case of non-compliance to targets/service agreement
  • Act as the internal and external customer contact for logistics related requests
  • Monitor financial performance of external customers
  • Travel regularly to meet with customers and/or internal colleagues, suppliers, etc.

Your profile
  • Preferred field of study: Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Global Business Management, German Minor / International study, and/or related studies.
  • Industry knowledge of Transportation, Warehouse Distribution, Import/Export USA (and/or other countries), Aircraft Material, Project Management, and/or Aviation Logistics
  • Excellent knowledge in Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Visio
  • Knowledge of SAP R/3 or other ERP system is desirable
  • Distinct analytical and problem solving skills
  • Proactive and highly self-motivated mindset combined with good business sense
  • Excellent communication skills in English
