Summer Internship- Actuarial Forecasting Intern

DESCRIPTION OF ASSIGNMENT
In this role, the intern will play a part of one of the most complex and dynamic actuarial roles in the company. Through the weekly conversations they will be exposed to STAT or GAAP financial projections and other actuarial principles. We would ask the Intern to build upon on any existing coding knowledge to learn VBA and Alteryx in order to streamline spreadsheets used in our workflows. The team is a fast-paced dynamic group and the intern will receive guidance from various people on the team exposing them to different collaborating styles.

TYPICAL JOB ASSIGNMENTS
1) Model test cells in our actuarial modeling software ‘Polysystem’ for various scenarios and sensitivities. The intern will learn to use the software and analyze output reports. After learning the basics the intern would then change various inputs within the model and rerun reports for analysis.
3) Process Improvement – Data from our models currently populate output excel files. Right now this step is a manual process; the Intern would learn and utilize VBA and Alteryx in order to automate the process and free up critical process time.
5) Analytics Package – Under guidance of more senior actuaries the intern would build out automated summaries and charts of key analytics from the model outputs. The intern would learn some of the methods actuaries use to analyze data and key data visualization techniques in Excel/Alteryx.
