Intern, Innovation (SUMMER 2020)

                        Monday through Thursday, 9 am – 5 pm from
                        May 26, 2020 through August 6, 2020

DEPARTMENT AND POSITION SUMMARY:
Innovation is managed by the Director of Innovation, reporting into the VP, Chief of Staff, under the CEO. Our mission is to develop and leverage Americares capacity to identify, incubate and scale innovations to accelerate its mission. Toward that effort we are building an innovation culture through information exchange, engagement and experimentation.  We are building a platform and process that facilitates the elevation of new ideas generated from anywhere in the organization and brings them through execution to scale.  We are also working to identify and leverage emerging disruptors in the social impact sector to accelerate our growth. The intern will help support these efforts and identify opportunities to leverage and nurture innovation in an effort to bring them to scale.
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Daily/Weekly/Monthly:
  1. Monthly innovation communication launches and maintenance strategy.
  2. Support improvement, development and implementation of organization-wide open idea sharing (internally called Imagine Sessions)
  3. General support and partnership with Innovation Director on daily innovation activities
Long Term Projects:
  1. Build out internal “crowd sourced” Innovation Challenge platform.
  2. Build a business model and plan to test the feasibility of at least one specific innovation in process.

SKILLS:
Preferred
  1. Exposure to innovation practices, methods, models. [such as Design Thinking, Business Model Canvasing]
  2. Exposure/interest in change management and organizational effectiveness.
  3. Interest in advancing the goals of Americares as a social impact organization focused on health.

Required
  1. Current undergraduate student
  2. Available for the full dates of internship (5/26/2020 – 8/6/2020)

  5. Exposure to Business strategy and implementation planning
  6. Ability to think strategically and translate it into action.
  7. Demonstrated project leadership and management skills.
