Regulatory Intern

About Us:
Cboe is a self-regulatory organization (SRO) that is obligated to enforce the federal securities laws and SRO rules and regulations to assure a fair and orderly market for all participants.
The Regulatory Division is specifically responsible for responsible for overseeing many Regulatory functions including SEC relations and correspondence; representing Exchange interests at various industry groups such as the Intermarket Surveillance Group, SIFMA Capital and Credit Division, Securities Industry/Regulatory Council on Continuing Education and various qualification test development committees and representing the Division’s interests in certain business-side matters.
Program Overview:
Our program is a twelve-week program designed to engage you in day-to-day activities and projects contributing towards our team and corporate goals.
The internship will provide you with an opportunity to gain knowledge along with experience in the securities industry, exposing you to all aspects of the self-regulatory process. The role will offer the opportunity to assist in the review and analysis of market activity for possible violations of applicable federal securities laws and SRO rules and regulations.
As a summer intern at Cboe, you will have the unique opportunity to learn about the financial industry through various educational offerings, as well as, direct work experience working with our Regulatory Department.
An Internship with the Regulatory Department is a unique opportunity from which Interns will gain valuable insight from their Cboe peers that will allow them to continue to develop their career skills and business knowledge. During the course of the internship, you will be exposed to three areas of Regulation:

  • Investigations
  • Surveillance
  • Cross Market Regulation

Internship Requirements:
The Cboe Regulatory Division (the “Division”) is seeking an Options Regulatory Summer Intern who is a highly motivated and curious-minded individual.

To be considered for this internship you must be an undergraduate student pursuing a BS in Finance, Accounting, Forensic Accounting, Business Forensics, Economics, Data Analytics, or Business Administration.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Superb written, analytical, and research skills and the ability to apply both quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • Must have strong attention to detail, organization, and effective communication skills (verbal and oral).
  • Desire to work in a team environment.
  • Interest in financial markets and how they operate.
  • Desire to learn financial and option theory, market regulation and enforcement of securities laws.
  • Experience with relational databases.
  • Experience working with large data sets and data analysis.
