Manager, Inclusive Impact

ABOUT THE POSITION 
New Profit is seeking a passionate, organized, and entrepreneurial person to join our team. The Manager, Inclusive Impact (II), provides high-level support to Tulaine Montgomery, Managing Partner, Inclusive Impact. The Manager acts as the “air traffic controller” for the initiative, helping direct attention and resources to prioritized matters and ensuring effective leverage of Tulaine and the Inclusive Impact Team. The Manager also serves as strategic and operational support on engagement with the senior leadership team, Board of Directors, strategic partnerships, and fundraising. 

The ideal candidate for this position possesses strong organizational skills; self-awareness and the ability to build and evolve relationships; an anti-racist stance and experience with diversity, equity, and inclusion work; project management capabilities; and the desire to work in a complex, entrepreneurial environment. 
 
Support to Tulaine Montgomery: 

  • Maintain regular communication with Tulaine and monitor her inbox in order to track priorities, work streams, and action items; ensure time and attention is focused most effectively; and facilitate coordination with other members of the team as needed - assist with daily correspondence (emails, letters, etc.) including writing, transcribing, editing, and proofing. Special projects – including research, preparation for speaking engagements, anticipate, and respond to Tulaine’s needs relative to upcoming meetings and events 
  • Coordinate strategy alignment between Inclusive Impact Leadership Team and New Profit Leadership team at large. Assist Tulaine in her responsibilities related to New Profits Leadership Team, including attending meetings, meeting agenda planning, materials preparation (biweekly update document, events calendar, emerging opportunities tracker, etc.), and drafting regular communications 
  • Supporting Managing Partner and Partner in strategy development and business plan design 
  • Assist Tulaine in her responsibilities related to strategic priorities, including managing projects and work plans, assisting with regular communications to stakeholders, and ensuring close collaboration and coordination with the Portfolio, Communications (ensuring internal alignment), and Investor Relation (ensuring external alignment) teams 
  • Serve as main point of contact for Tulaine with the team and with external constituencies including New Profit portfolio organizations and provide support on deals as necessary 
  • Manage Virtual Assistant and ensure alignment with Tulaine’s priorities when scheduling and tracking to dos 
 
Drive Inclusive Impact Operations:

  • Manage/coordinate Inclusive Impacts activities and priorities 
  • Track the long-term and short-term priorities of Inclusive Impact and work closely with the Finance and Leadership teams to manage allocations 
  • Write, develop, and edit content in partnership with Managing Partner and Partner 
  • Update and maintain Inclusive Impact strategy decks 
  • Serve as a representative at events with Managing Partner and Partner. Work with Communications team to communicate these experiences 
  • Research and identify key thought partners and connectors. Cultivate and steward these relationships for Managing Partner and Partner 
  • Create and maintain systems to capture the priorities of Inclusive Impact and manage work flow to support the leadership team 
  • Develop and maintain systems to become the repository for all Inclusive Impact activities 
  • Research and stay up to date on similar initiatives, changing language, and approaches at the intersection of DEI and philanthropy 
  • Research and identify key thought partners and connectors. Cultivate and steward these relationships for Managing Partner and Partner 
  • Support convening design and planning – from pre-event guest lists, sourcing, and day of logistics to post-event follow up 
  • Provide Board support, align activities with Board meetings including 1) lead contact for all Board related updates and 2) coordinate materials 
  • Support with organizational performance management system (including setting/reporting on quarterly priorities and annual goals) 
 
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR 

  • 5-7 years professional experience, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in a rapid-growth, entrepreneurial organization 
  • Demonstrated commitment to New Profit’s mission, and in particularly its commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity 
  • Team player with the proven ability to build strong relationships and influence individuals at all levels of an organization, as well as external constituents 
  • Comfort with ambiguity with a high level of maturity and empathy 
  • Adaptable and able to manage changing priorities and stakeholders 
  • Ability and willingness to switch between work that requires high level strategic thinking and work that is more focused on logistics, operations and execution 
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, simultaneously lead multiple projects and effectively prioritize time and tasks 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, both oral and written 
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office programs, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
