Deep Learning Intern, Horticulture

Working as a Deep Learning Intern, Horticulture at Signify is dynamic. The world is at advent of another revolution in Agriculture. Thanks to advances in IoT and machine learning, Precision Agriculture is already revolutionizing the way food is produced today. Agriculture is one of the fastest growing businesses in Signify. With our special lights and advanced recipes, we help aquaculture farmers to grow fishes faster and bigger in a more sustainable way. In this research internship, you will be working with a team of scientists on solving practical problems in precision agriculture and address them using computer vision algorithms. One such example is to detect and localize fishes in underwater imagery using weakly supervised methods.
This internship role is hosted by AI/ML group of Signify Research, located in Cambridge, MA. The group develops beyond illumination applications and services using data and cutting-edge techniques. If you are someone with scientific curiosity, interested in real-world problems and eager to address them using your AI/ML expertise, this internship position is for you.

This internship will start on June 1st and end on August 21stThese are not fixed dates and can be adjusted.
Towards the end of the internship, you will be expected to share work in the form of a demo and technical report with other colleagues in the group.
 
What you’ll do
  • Survey literature on prior work and suitable ML approaches to solve the given problem.
  • Conceptualize, build and validate an AI engine that becomes core part of the proposed solution
  • Demonstrate (customer pilots), publish (papers) and protect (patents) novel ideas.
 
What you’ll need
  • Graduate-level student (PhD preferred) in computer science, or any related disciplines
  • Experience in developing applications leveraging deep learning for image processing using platforms such as Keras, TensorFlow and Pytorch
  • Have excellent understanding of computer vision techniques and neural network architectures (such as UNET, Mask RCNN and RNNs).
  • Have a good publication record at venues such as CVPR, NIPS, JMLR, ICLR, ICML & ACL.
  • Be an expert programmer in Python or a similar language.
