Manufacturing Engineer

Alger Precision Machining is seeking an entry level candidate with a desire to join our team of engineers that assist production in all aspects of the high-volume contract job environment.
Overview:
Strong desire to learn all aspects of the conventional machining job shop environment with a natural mechanical curiosity. Assist current engineering staff in process, CAD/CAM (using Autodesk Inventor & Mastercam) and production improvements.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist with engineering support to all production departments, including day-to-day problem solving of processes or product defects. Investigate, collaborate, and diagnose to resolve production problems while documenting accordingly.
  • Assist in the evaluation of ways to improves production processes while gaining knowledge of materials types, part features, machining processes, tooling, machine capabilities, customer requirements and quality standards.
  • Assist in the development and improvement for inspection and measurement methods including in-process, first article and final inspection methods to ensure product quality.
Knowledge and Abilities:
Familiar with Autodesk Inventor (CAD), AutoCAD and Mastercam (CAM). Able to interpret instructions both written and oral. Competence in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Good analytical and problem-solving skills. Able to work in a team with co-workers to resolve work issues. Able to communicate effectively in English.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred, however, not required.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to periodically walk and or travel to other areas of the plant. Must have good eyesight with the ability to identify and distinguish colors and hand dexterity,
Work Environment:
Within safety guidelines, there will be exposure to noise, moving mechanical parts, oils/solvents, fumes, and odors that may affect the eyes, ears, nose, throat and/or skin.
