Business Operations & Finance Intern

Overview:
The Virtru Summer Intern for the G&A team will focus on tying together the operating, financial and product usage data of Virtru into useful business insights that inform the strategic direction of the company.

Through this internship the selected candidate will gain exposure to several critical business functions including Finance, Data & Analytics, Sales Operations, and Business Planning. The Virtru G&A (General and Administrative) team supports all aspects of Virtru’s operations including software/product development, commercial execution and planning, and financial planning for the entire organization.

The G&A internship will give the candidate exposure to critical aspects of running a successful software business in a fast-paced and enthusiastic start-up atmosphere. 

Roles & Responsibilities of the team in which the G&A intern will assist:
Business Operations:
  • Assist sales in identifying viable prospects to engage, including using Virtru’s analytics tools to identify high-value industries or geographies to target and doing in-depth research on prospect executives and buying patterns
  • Monitor and analyze sales execution of Marketing generated leads including ensuring all leads are delivered to sales accurately and identify patterns to improve execution
  • Gain advanced Salesforce.com CRM skills to improve data integrity of Virtru’s customers and prospects
  • Assist with contract management including categorizing Virtru’s existing agreements with customers and value-added resellers to identify gaps in contract coverage and pursue new agreements where necessary
  • Analyze Virtru’s sales and account management data to generate insights for improved commercial execution and results

Finance:
  • Monitor and analyze cash collection efforts
  • Assist in the monthly financial reconciliation process
  • Report monthly financial results against budgets and forecasts to Finance and Business unit leaders
  • Develop means to effectively measure, track, and report on KPIs for the business
  • Prepare financial components of executive level business reviews
  • Manage ad hoc financial analyses based on business demand
  • Assist with preparation of annual budget, monthly forecasts, and strategic planning models

The Candidate:
The ideal candidate will have either recently completed, or be in the process of acquiring a four-year degree from an accredited institution. Ideally in one of the following areas of focus or a related field:
Business Administration
Accounting/Finance
Economics
Mathematics
Computer Science
Statistics

A successful candidate will demonstrate curiosity and the ability to learn new skills independently. Rigorous attention to detail and the ability to present the methods and work behind a conclusion or result are required.

Familiarity with data-analysis tools such as Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets or SQL is preferred. A passion for Virtru's mission of data-privacy for all will help candidates stand-out.
