Data Scientist

Requires knowledge and experience in own discipline; still acquiring higher-level knowledge and skills. Builds knowledge of the company, processes and customers. Solves a range of straightforward problems. Analyzes possible solutions using standard procedures. Receives a moderate level of guidance and direction.


1.      Acquire, cleanse, organize and mine massive volumes of data (sensor/system log) using scripts.
2.     Write reports which clearly explain the relationships in the data and the significance of those relationships.
3.     Work closely with other Applied Materials employees to interpret findings.
4.      Travel 50% within the U.S., Europe and Israel.

  • Good to have prior experience in data analysis using descriptive statistical analysis techniques such as Univariate/Multivariate analysis to describe and summarize data.
  • Proficient at data visualization and using data to tell a story.
  • Experience in any version control systems (such as git) is desirable.
  • Must be able/willing to work at customer site, inside cleanroom or server room, performing analysis of factory data.
  • Must be able to work legally in the U.S. and EU countries and travel extensively between U.S., EU, and India.
  • Will need to spend several months in Bangalore, India for training.
  • B.S/M.S./M.Tech/Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or an Engineering background with programming experience.
  • Skilled in scripting in R or Python and UNIX.
  • Proficiency in applying statistical modeling techniques.
