Position Summary and Responsibilities
The Supply Chain Analyst Intern actively participates as a member of the Supply Chain Team and gains valuable hands-on experience within the field of study. Assignments and projects are designed to improve demand and forecast analysis/reporting for the purposes of increasing operational excellence, competitive advantage and customer satisfaction. The intern provides detailed demand analysis reporting and recommends forecast models for product lines/models (including implementation once approved). 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Reviews historical demand data, identifies trends and analyzes each product line/model at multiple levels of aggregation and multiple time horizons
  • Creates a demand plan for designated product line/model
  • Supports end-to-end supply chain, capacity planning process and order fulfillment for designated product line/model
  • Reports demand analysis findings using charts, tables and graphs to support operations planning process through analytics
  • Develops statistical forecast models based on historical data:
  • Gathers, validates and analyzes data
  • Develops statistical forecasting models
  • Reviews results and applies error analysis to make final suggestions
  • Develops and runs ad-hoc scenario analyses as needed
  • Evaluates and reports forecast results:
  • Reconciles variances on a monthly basis and refines forecast models
  • Monitors trends in forecast error
  • Identifies error driver
  • Provides monthly report on findings
  • Finalizes forecast models for product line/model
  • Sets up forecast model and reporting formats for each product line/model
  • Other duties/projects as assigned
 
Supervisory Responsibilities                                                   
This position does not supervise other employees.
 

Qualifications

Education/Experience
  • Actively pursuing a degree in business management, supply chain management or closely related field from an accredited university. Junior standing or higher is preferred.
  • GPA 3.0 and above is highly preferred.
  • APICS/ISM or other forecasting certification is a plus
  • Demonstrated proficiency in statistics, forecasting and forecasting methods with an understanding of financial and operational impacts
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Excel, Access and PowerPoint is required
  • Strong analytical and presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with all teams and levels of business affecting the forecasting process
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
  • Knowledge of demand planning software is a plus
  • Knowledge of manufacturing assembly processes is a plus
  • Relocation and/or housing is not available for this position. Student should be in a commutable distance to Poway, CA, with reliable transportation during the summer and school semester.
