Laboratory Technician III - Biochemistry - 1127131

Dartmouth College, an Ivy League Institution located in Hanover, New Hampshire, seeks an enthusiastic, energetic, and responsible junior scientist to join the Department of Biochemistry as an entry-level Laboratory Technician, investigating the molecular basis of infectious prion diseases. We are especially looking to hire an individual who displays exceptional scientific curiosity, and enjoys independent work. The successful candidate will be a careful and conscientious laboratory worker who possesses excellent determination, patience, and creativity.
This position requires outstanding math, logical problem solving, record keeping, and communications skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to collaborate effectively with a variety of constituents, including graduate students, the principal investigator, and other colleagues. The ideal candidate will utilize their creativity and problem-solving skills within a scientifically rigorous work environment that is constantly striving to make critical research advances.

The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree in science, some laboratory experience, and the willingness to perform scientific protocols carefully.

8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, with flexibility for lab experiment schedules. Work time will not exceed 40 hours per week.

• Ability to learn and perform scientific techniques carefully and precisely
• Organizational and time management skills
• Willingness to work with animals
• Willingness to work with P2 biohazardous materials, specifically scrapie prions.
• Good mathematical and quantitative skills
Experience
• Some relevant laboratory experience.
