Major Capital Projects Associates Program

The Major Capital Projects (MCP) Associates Program is a unique program and a distinctive opportunity within the Major Capital Projects Department (MCP); MCP has responsibilities for numerous active Port Authority mega-projects including the World Trade Center Construction and many of the PA’s future regional-critical upcoming mega-projects. The MCP Associates Program is a two-year program where Associates spend their first year rotating across different aspects of major capital delivery, completing a series of work assignments on large- and small-scale projects involving fields of construction and project management. These work assignments are designed to expose you to the different functions of the MCP Department and provide you with broad exposure to the various functions within engineering and construction. In their second year, Associates begin working in their permanent assignment within the MCP Department. The MCP Department is responsible for some of the largest projects in the region. As an Associate, you would have frequent opportunities to work alongside seasoned professionals helping you develop your professional credentials while giving you the opportunity to serve the public and improve the region’s transportation infrastructure.

Associates also have numerous educational and professional development opportunities, trainings, mentoring programs, and frequent opportunities to work alongside senior management.

Assignments may include:
  • Construction Management – management, supervision, inspection and administration of active construction projects and/or work orders
  • Project Management – management of scope, budget and schedule for conceptual design, preliminary design and final design of construction projects and/or work orders
  • Safety Management – management and supervision of construction safety requirements
  • Cost Control Group – management and development of project financials, including budgeting, estimating, tracking and payments
  • Tenant Construction Group – management, supervision and inspection of tenant construction projects
  • Procurement and Claims Group – management of project procurement and evaluation of construction claims
  • Planning – manage the planning for the upcoming MCP large projects;
  • involving fields of planning, construction and project management. These work assignments are designed to expose you to the different functions of the MCP Department and provide you with broad exposure to the various functions within architecture, engineering and construction.
  • Community Outreach – work with other stakeholders to manage and coordinate construction activities

We are seeking candidates who have a clear interest in public service management and possess a record of academic achievement. Candidates are selected based on academic achievement, analytical and communication skills, and work experience.
