Commodity Intern

About the Role
Mattson Technology is looking for a Commodity Intern to join the Operations team. The internship opportunity will provide students with hands on experience working with industry professionals. In this role, you’ll be involved in carrying out the daily tasks within current operations and processes in the commodity rationalization and source selection. The main objective over the internship is to help you learn real skills, and values while building a network, making an impact, and have fun while doing it all. The actual dates of the internship will align with most universities summer break.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • SAP Data mining
  • Coordinates procurement activities with other departments to assure effective and timely coordination and teamwork in procuring materials
  • Work collaboratively across operations functions and development teams to assist in driving disciplines and best sourcing practices
  • Identifies, analyzes, develops and implements procurement best practices, processes and procedures
  • Conducts supplier quoting and negotiation, considering project scope, budget, and margin targets. Strategic development of suppliers, supplier selection and qualification, transition of products from engineering to production, project management and overall supplier performance
  • Work with BOM’s to assess if configurations match current specification and make corrections by generating ECO/PCN requests to affect these changes
  • Participate in survey suppliers that have demonstrated poor quality, delivery and lack of flexibility
  • Collect data, write reports and make recommendations based on the output of the data
  • Exhibits a strong sense of urgency to maintain high personal performance while making decisions and allocating resources in a cost-efficient manner
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • Currently enrolled as a full-time undergraduate, master’s or PhD student in the following areas of study: Operation Management, Supply Chain, Engineering or Finance
  • Confident, quick decision maker, who works well in a team environment
  • Great communicator and excellent writing skills
  • MS Project, Excel, Power Point, and Word software skills
