As a member of the Intelligent Assistant Solutions team, a component of Pfizer’s Digital organization, the Data Science/Engineering Intern participant will join a group focused on leveraging machine learning to build products and services to empower colleagues and to create a healthier world.
Day-to-day, the Data Science/Engineering Intern will be a key contributor to the team’s on-going product development activities; an essential component to creating a scalable analytics capability for Pfizer. Further, the participant will actively support ad-hoc analysis efforts utilizing patient, text or image data to identify and develop life-changing therapies to patients around the world.
In addition, as technologists within Pfizer’s analytic eco-system; this role will also participate in the assessment of new technologies as well as identifying next-generation solution architectures.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
  • Ability to create technical prototypes and demonstrations based on rapidly changing data sets
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced multi-disciplinary environment; with the ability to effectively communicate with a diverse audience
  • Experience with general supervised and unsupervised Machine Learning techniques, as well as text analysis, Natural Language Processing or Neural Networks
  • Strong foundational understanding of software engineering principles with hands-on experience with SQL, Python, Scala, R and/or Java
  • Ability to create effective visualizations and experience with current toolsets (e.g. Tableau, Shiny, D3.js)
  • Exposure to cloud technologies for distributed processing of large datasets (eg. AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Background in Software Engineering, Statistics, Data Science or similar disciplines
