Population Health Data Analyst Master's Intern

Summer 2020 Internship

The Care Delivery Technology Services Analytics team empowers our partners (IT partners, PMG and Health Plan stakeholders) to reimagine patient care through trusted data, artificial intelligence, and other emerging technologies.

Intern Project:
Intern will work with users, data analysts and developers to evaluate clinical user needs and then participate in building population care analytic work products. Use of Business Intelligence products like Tableau are a plus. Regular activities include:
- Investigate clinical data to validate design, develop and integrate functional analytic reports
- Document and comply with development standards is use by the team to govern the project we deliver
- Develop and maintain work products that meet standards for presentation and data quality
- Participate in design reviews of prototypes, and applications ready for production
- Maintain existing and developed Tableau code and optimize/streamline informational lining and feeds.
- Integrate tasks/activities into project plans in support of product enhancements

Desired Skills:
- Clinical data interest,
- SQL and/or R programming language
- Tableau experience is a plus, not necessary
- Public Health, Health Care Administration, Computer Science, Business Analytics and related master's programs 

Over the course of a structured internship program, may perform research duties and contribute to a small project or elements of a larger project. Meet quality standards and produce deliverables for management-related projects that are directly relevant to the work of the organization. May be responsible for coordinating activities of a project team, identifying appropriate resources needed and developing schedules to ensure timely completion of a project. Communicate with Senior Management or Functional Area Manager regarding results of assigned tasks.

Essential Responsibilities:
Participate in and/or specifically manage elements of an assigned smaller project in support of organizational goals. This work may include project planning, developing goals & objectives, research, creating a work plan & decision criteria, project management, team facilitation and financial & market feasibility analysis.
Through study and research on internship field, may identify & provide input on process changes and improvements to enhance performance across projects.
Ensures all project requirements and/or objectives are properly documented.
May develop reports & recommendations and communicates plans via written & oral presentations to project sponsors and stakeholder groups.
May function as interface/liaison across organizational structures to facilitate coordinated strategies.

Currently enrolled or has completed a master's or graduate level program in health, business administration, or law (juris doctorate).
High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
License, Certification, Registration

Additional Requirements:
Communication, project management, organizational and analytical skills.
Computer skills in a Windows environment, including Microsoft Office software.
Ability to take initiative in creating comprehensive leadership development plan.
Ability to handle high stress, multiple tasks, complex issues, conflicting demands and confidential information.

Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with the health care or health insurance industry.
