Watershed Hydrology Support

The EPA National Student Services Contract has an immediate opening for a full-time contractor position; Watershed Hydrology Support with the Office of Research and Development at the EPA facility in Athens, GA. 

This is a great Bachelor level opportunity to facilitate scientific research. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

·        Perform literature searches for the latest scientific studies in hydrology, water quality and watershed modeling;

·        Write algorithms representing science in the domain of hydrology and watershed modeling;

·        Write computer software coding hydrology and watershed modeling algorithms;

·        Design watershed modeling workflows using available web services; and

·        Network and explore many career paths at EPA.

Location: This job will be located at EPA’s facility in Athens, GA.

Salary: $20.95 per hour.

Travel: Occasional overnight travel may be required.

·        Demonstrated education and/or experience in desktop and/or web-based software development in at least one of the following computer languages: Java, Python, C#, C++;

·        Demonstrated education and/or experience in watershed hydrology;

·        Experience working in a team environment; and

·        Strong written, oral and electronic communication skills.

What the EPA project is about

The Watershed Exposure Branch (WEB) in Computational Exposure Division (CED) of the National Environmental Research Laboratory (NERL) supports the mission of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) by conducting process, modeling, and field research to assess the exposure risks of humans and ecosystems to natural and man-made stressors.

·        Be at least 18 years of age and

·        Have earned at least a Bachelor’s degree in science, technology, engineering, mathematics or a closely related field of study field from an accredited university or college within the last 24 months and

·        Be a citizen of the United States of America or a Legal Permanent Resident.
