Research Assistant at UCLA Anderson

UCLA Anderson Professors Jennifer Kao, Chris Poliquin, and Melanie Wasserman are looking to hire a full time research assistant to begin July 2020 and to work for at least one year. The position will entail close collaboration and assistance with all stages of empirical research in health, labor, and organizational economics. Examples of the types of projects include understanding drivers of innovation among firms in the US healthcare sector, examining gender differences in occupational choice, and studying how technological change affects wages and organizational structure.
This position is ideal for research candidates looking to develop their empirical research skills in preparation for applying to PhD programs in economics, business, or a related field. Preference will be given to detail-oriented applicants with previous programming experience, particularly in working with large datasets.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:  
  • Strong quantitative background 
  • Strong computer skills including experience with statistical software such as Stata, R, and/or Python
  • Ability to work independently  
  • Background in economics a plus, but not necessary. (Candidates with strong technical backgrounds who are looking for more exposure to economics are welcomed.)  
  • Prior research assistant experience strongly preferred  
  • Excellent grades required
The position will be based in Los Angeles and the successful candidate will be able to participate in academic life at UCLA, including the ability to attend research seminars. Telecommuting from another city is not an option. We offer a competitive salary and authorization for work in the US is required.
