Senior Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis (Edison Carrier Solutions)

Edison Carrier Solutions (ECS), a business unit of Southern California Edison (SCE), is a competitive local exchange carrier with one of the largest wholly owned & operated telecommunications networks in the region. We are focused on the wholesale carrier and large business market offering high capacity telecommunications transport, Internet and special access services. Our customers are regional, national and international telecommunication carriers, cable television and satellite providers, wireless companies, internet service providers, governments and large and medium enterprises.

About the Position…

The Senior Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis, Compliance, and Order Management, will be a key member of the Leadership Team for SCE’s commercial telecommunications business’ (ECS) within SCE’s Customer Services division and will work with the Principal Manager of Finance and Business Operations and ECS Senior Leadership team to define and deliver the business/financial strategic plan. The successful candidate will be responsible for working with ECS’s various departments (Sales, Engineering, Construction, and Contracts) and lead the financial planning and analysis team to develop long-term forecasts, build business cases and investment analysis, and lead the development of ECS’s product pricing strategy. This role will also be key in ensuring that ECS is compliant with CPUC and FCC requirements, for handling customer orders, and ensuring great customer service.
 
Typical Responsibilities:

  • Leads and directs the financial planning & analysis, pricing, sales contract development administration, compliance and regulatory functions for the ECS business.
  • Serves as the lead financial specialist and advisor to the Principal Manager of Finance and Business Operations and Corporate Senior Leadership Team on the direction and strategy of the ECS business.
  • Provides direction and guidance to the team responsible for modeling and forecasting revenues, expenses, capital, and return on investment
  • Works directly with the ECS leadership to help develop strategies that will align ECS core functional teams with financial and operational impacts over the next 3 to 5 years.
  • Acts as the compliance area leader for ECS by partnering with other departments across the company regarding the establishment and monitoring of processes and procedures to ensure compliance with laws and regulations (CPUC) that govern the ECS business; ensure compliance with all local, state and federal reporting requirements
  • Oversees the development, negotiation, and administration of sales contracts that have major long term financial, operational, and legal impacts to the business
  • Directs the work of ECS employees and consult with SCE and outside attorneys and regulatory personnel involved with these efforts.
  • Leads and develops/refreshes the annual long-term business case and specific opportunity business cases that have major financial and operational impacts to the business and company.
  • Participates in key meetings with SCE officers to support ECS business strategy (FRM).
  • Manages employee development and performance activities by conducting performance planning and assessments, training, timely feedback, coaching and mentoring.
  • Makes employment decisions (e.g., hiring, promotion, appropriate pay, rewards/recognition, succession planning, termination, etc.)
  • Demonstrates SCE's values through decisions and actions. Promotes the company safety culture to ensure a safe work environment.

Qualifications you need …

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business, Finance, Economics or related field
  • Five (5) or more years of leadership experience providing direction and/or leading one or more organizations
  • Seven (7) or more years of relevant finance and business operations experience
  • Experience developing business cases, investment analysis, and driving implementation and adoption of financial assumptions
  • Experience building financial models

Other qualifications and skills that will set you up for success …

  • Experience performing, developing, and implementing short-term and long-term financial analysis, financial planning and/or capital forecasting
  • Master of Business Administration or Finance or Strategy
  • CFA certification
  • Strong understanding of the broadband industry and fiber optic business
  • Experience developing and delivering complex presentations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience integrating work across the organization to improve customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and handle risks appropriately.
  • Demonstrate strong ethics, influence and negotiation, leadership, interpersonal skills, communication, and engage in continuous learning
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in communicating/speaking to all levels of an organization, management, and internal/external partners

  • The primary work location for this position is Pomona, CA.
