Summer Intern

2020 Summer Intern

Launch Alaska is looking for a summer intern to support our 2020 accelerator program and general business operations. This person will report to the Operations and Outreach Director, but will work on projects related to our accelerator program, business strategy and operations, and marketing and communications. The responsibilities are flexible depending on the interests and skills of the intern. We are looking for someone who is passionate about solving problems at the nexus of food, water, transportation and energy through innovation and entrepreneurship. This individual should be excited to learn how to run a startup accelerator, through working across multiple job functions. A willingness to learn and comfort tackling new problems is a must. This position is based in Anchorage, Alaska and reports to the Operations and Outreach Director.

Activities may include:
  • Selecting our 2020 cohort - help us decide who gets into our program through conducting company research and interviews
  • Preparing for our 2020 accelerator program that kicks off in October - document creation, program design, coordinating directly with startups, etc
  • Event coordination - help our event contractor execute 1-3 summer events (Board Retreat, networking events, program kickoff), ranging from 10-100 attendees
  • CRM management - keep all HubSpot data relevant and current
  • Independent research project - option to spend 10% of your time on an independent research project looking into some aspect of Food, Water, Transportation or Energy in Alaska, and present out findings at end of internship to broader community

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program or a recent grad
  • Must be able to work 30-40 hours per week, over 10-12 weeks throughout Summer 2020

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Understand the startup ecosystem and have a broad understanding of technologies across food, water, transportation and energy
  • Basic knowledge of G-suite and Excel
  • Presentation/communication skills
  • Detail oriented, highly organized, ability to deliver on time
  • Go-getter that thrives when juggling multiple projects

Bonus
  • Pursuing a degree related to energy, food, water, transportation, sustainability, climate change, entrepreneurship, business or finance
  • Comfortable using social media to drive engagement and deliver messaging
  • Hubspot or other CRM programs

Perks and Compensation
  • $20.00 per hour
  • 40 hours per week
  • 10-12 weeks, start date in May or June
