Community Relations Internship
Qualifications:
The successful candidate should be a student pursuing a degree in Community Relations. Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing Communications or related field. Preference will be given to candidates with a strong academic background, proficiency with Microsoft Office programs & Adobe Creative Suite.
Primary Duties:
The main duties of the Community Relations intern are to assist Community Relations team with special projects. The intern may be assigned projects and/or tasks associated with the following efforts:
- Assist with neighborhood and community outreach
- Manage and execute one external community event
- Assist with the planning, staffing and implementation of corporate and/or community events.
- Coordinate and distribute mailings and tickets
- Assist with writing and editing (example, newsletter article drafting - both for weekly and bi-monthly employee publications)
- Update Key Community Stakeholder List
- Develop and distribute daily media relations reports
- Support research efforts and promotion of energy efficiency programs
The intern may also be expected to complete additional assignments as determined by his or her supervisor.
Internship Philosophy:
An internship in the Community Relations department continues a student’s collegiate experience at a large electric utility. It includes opportunities to apply theories learned in the classroom to professional real-world situations.
