Volunteer Education Program Coordinator: Water Education Materials (Remote)

  • This is an unpaid volunteer opportunity and as a Program Coordinator, you are required to contribute a minimum of 8 hours per week.
  • Associates must be willing to attend virtual meetings in EST Timezone and be responsive to emails within 36 hours.
  • STW™ will provide a "letter of recommendation" to interns, students & professionals who are able to showcase outstanding performance for school/university credit and for professional references.

Save the Water™ (STW™) is a U.S.-based nonprofit organization dedicated to solving the world water crisis through excellence in water science research and by forming alliances with organizations, scientists, universities, media, businesses, and governments around the world to promote awareness of water contamination issues.

Volunteering with STW™ is different from other volunteer experiences as we work in an almost 100% online environment. Save the Water™ is run like a business and we rely heavily on frequent email communications, meetings held via google hangouts/Zoom, and collaboration on projects via google drive. The Role:
The Education Program Coordinator is responsible for supporting the development and evaluation of education programs and its policies and processes, and to develop new products. He/she will work closely with the WEM Education Project Leader and the Education Group to identify opportunities, resolve concerns and grow STW™’s Water Education Materials (WEM) Education Programs.

What you will be responsible for...
  • Support the program development progress that aligns to Save the Water™’s mission in educating the public about world water issues. 
  • Provide assistance in program design and evaluate the effectiveness of STW™ education programs.
  • Research and recommend best practices in program development and evaluation.
  • Research and write education literature content for our website.
  • Attend to regular meetings as necessary.  
  • Work collaboratively with the team members in the Water Education Materials team.
  • Increasing SEO of our website using keywords as developed by our Web Analysts.
  • Be willing to attend virtual meetings in EST timezone (GMT -4:00) and respond to emails within 24 hours.

  • Strong ability to self-motivate, multi-task and prioritize effectively. Proven ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and online environment.
  • Demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills to elicit information and provide accurate information clearly and concisely.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Education Administration, Social Science, Social Work, Policy, Program Evaluation, Community Development or similar, with experience in research methods (APA style) and data analysis. Equivalencies of education and experience may also be considered.
  • Relevant experience in the development and coordination of educational programs and projects.
  • Comfortable learning and using a variety of technical solutions to complete project deliverables.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies, tools and lifecycles.
  • Experience using Google product applications or GSuite.
  • Master’s degree (or in progress) in Education, Education Administration, Social Science, Social Work, Policy, Program Evaluation, Community Development or similar. 
  • Knowledge in Science, Environmental Science, Biology, or Chemistry.
  • Experience in graphic design; knowledge of graphic design software projects.
  • Familiar with or have some knowledge in curriculum development.
  • Research methodologies and writing.
  • Minimum one year of applied experience in research and/or evaluation through school or professional work, preferably in an academic environment. Experience in coordinating research projects.
