Algorithm Engineer Intern, Operations Research and Optimization

Optimization and data-driven operations research are ubiquitous in Alibaba Group’s businesses. Responsibilities:
Candidates will be expected to work in one of the following areas:
- Scientific and computational research in optimization and machine learning in one or multiple following areas: linear optimization, mixed-integer optimization, black-box optimization, high-performance numerical routines, parallel computing, large problem decomposition, learning-to-optimize, and optimal control.
- Effective applications of optimization with machine learning to real-world problems in e-commerce, logistics, and computing resource scheduling.
- Joining the development of industry-level solutions of big-data analyses and modeling. Using technology to expand current business boundaries.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree or above. Master’s or Ph.D. degrees (in process) are preferred. Major in Operations Research, Computer Science/Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or related STEM field.
2. Research experience of 1 or more years. Peer-reviewed publications or strong recommendations are preferred.
3. Strong analysis and mathematical modeling skills.
5. Ability to obtain a work (internship) permit in the country of internship.
