MIX convenes stakeholders to build common data standards that create transparency and develops strategic insight from complex data to help sectors flourish. Founded in 2002, MIX has served as a trusted data partner for socially responsible investors who move 10 billion USD annually.
ABOUT RELAY
Despite record levels of investment, evidence shows that it is still challenging to get capital to many fintech companies, including those targeting the 3 billion financially underserved people worldwide. Research indicates that this is due, in part, to a lack of information which makes it difficult for investors to identify and evaluate opportunities. RELAY is a forthcoming data solution from MIX that will bridge the information gap between fintech companies and investors and, in doing so, unlock capital for inclusive fintech innovations.

THE ROLE
MIX is looking for an intern to support research and writing of a case study on our Data Standards for Inclusive Fintech. The case study will detail how these Data Standards can be used by both fintech startups and investors, in support of our overall goal to drive capital to fintechs best placed to expand financial inclusion. The intern will work directly with the Director, Fintech Data Solution at MIX to develop an outline, map out a research plan, and conduct interviews. After the research phase, the intern will help to draft the case study, integrate internal and external feedback into a second draft, and prepare the document for publication.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DELIVERABLES
  • Input on an initial outline, developed by the Director.
  • Research plan, including desk research and potential interviews, for gathering the information required per the outline.
  • Interviews, planning and note-taking.
  • Develop content for the case study, including text boxes, graphs, and images where relevant.
  • Manage the development of 2nd draft, integrating internal and external feedback.
  • Supporting the development of the final draft, which will be designed separately and prepared for publication; copy-editing and other quality assurance provided after layout.
  • Blog post, co-authored with Director, to launch and disseminate the case study.

INTERNSHIP DETAILS
  • The intern should be able to spend approximately 2 days per week for 10 weeks.
  • Expected start date: ASAP
  • This is a fully-remote position. The intern should be available for calls in EDT and CEST timezones.
  • A stipend will be provided upon completion of all deliverables.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Exceptional writing and communications skills.
  • Previous experience with qualitative research, including organizing and conducting interviews.
  • Data visualization experience is a strong advantage.
  • Knowledge sharing skills, with the ability to document processes and knowledge for others to replicate and refine.
  • Understanding of the inclusive finance landscape and the role financial services play in achieving development goals is preferred.
  • Goal-oriented, problem solving attitude.
  • Flexible, adaptable to change.
  • A strong team player, adhering to team best practices, managing tasks across team members towards team deliverables, and ability to contribute to and learn from other team members.
